Achieve your health goals with personalised genetic profiling!

Personalised genetic profiling offers profound insight into how your body responds to diet, exercise and lifestyle choices. We can then convert the information into actionable steps to achieve optimum health and wellbeing.

The science of genes is called Genetics. You can’t change your genes. But you can affect how they influence the body, with the right nutritional, exercise and lifestyle choices. This is called Epigenetics.

By obtaining a genetic profile, you can epigenetically assist in a range of health concerns, including:

  • Diabetes and insulin resistance
  • Cardiovascular health and cholesterol regulation
  • Fat metabolism and weight management
  • Hypertension
  • Bone health
  • Hormone regulation and menopause balance
  • Irregular sleep patterns
  • Healthy ageing
  • Food sensitivities
  • And more

What are the Fitgenes options?

When you come to see Marion Stobie for a naturopathic consult, you will have two options:  either  Carb Choice ($229.95) or the Health and Wellbeing ($459.00), and she will give you a kit to take away.

How does the genetic profiling process work?

At a time convenient to you, swab your inside cheek and put the swab into the test tube  and courier bag provided, and send it to Nutrisearch in Hawkes Bay. Nutrisearch sends it to the lab in Australia. From time of sending to the time when the results come in is usually 2-3 weeks. The report is sent electronically to Marion Stobie, and then she will assess it and write up an action plan. Then you go in and see Marion,  and she will present you with the report and action plan, all bound and looking nice. She will charge the usual consultation fee for this one hour consultation.

This is what Marion says about Fitgenes Genetic Profiling:

“It is a DNA test, and it is very very interesting. They say that the DNA loads the gun but it is environment and lifestyle that pulls the trigger, so you may have a genetic vulnerability for heart disease, and this will grade that vulnerability via a traffic light system (red – high risk, orange – could go either way, or green – not of significant concern), but you can take preventative steps to not go down that path, and to reduce the likelihood of serious complications developing. If the gene tests in the red zone,  I will give an action plan (diet, lifestyle, supplements, herbs) tailored for that person. It is highly individualised. It takes me a few hours to read the report (it is very long!) and to extract from it the most important things for my client and to write up the action plan.”
“It is really easy to do and it is not invasive.”
